NEVIS reimagines the retail experience by bringing the store directly to you. As shopping continues to blur between online and in-person, NEVIS envisions how the retail journey will evolve over the next 15 years.

Issues Around Shopping

With malls and outlets all over the US closing down, people yearn for new ways to shop beyond online shopping. There is a sense of community and socializing when wondering around in-person that people gravitate towards with examples like farmers markets and pop-up stores. With that, many issues arise from popularity of such events like traffic, wait times, exhaustion, and many more that disinterests people from going out. This is where NEVIS handles these situations by mobilizing the retail experience so you can walk right out of your house to one of the many spots NEVIS will stop by.

Shopping with NEVIS

NEVISĀ is a catered retail system that coordinates their routes around cities for people to come visit. There are 4 different vehicles each with different experience and products sold creating a mini-mall of sorts.

Shopping Carts

When entering the facility of NEVIS, a personal shopping cart with help guide you throughout the space. The shopping carts acts as an assistant: answering basic question through voice, marking pricing of items put into the cart, and having a catalog of brands and products to look through. After your visit, payment of any products is done via SIVEN, your personalized shopping cart.

Final Thoughts

This project was unique in that it was my first time designing something for the future. I had to learn to research and predict what shopping could look like in 2035, looking at trends both in the present and past. With that, it was fun to explore multiple possibilities with the retail experience and having existing technology not limit me and my team. For credit, I did not work on the final renderings of NEVIS, but aided in the overall vision of NEVIS, any visual design elements, and all interactive screens that the project needed. Throughout the process, me and my team had multiple meetings each week to figure out many things, ideation, research, workload, etc. We each express what we wanted out of this project and combined our different talents to create a multi-media vision to best represent our idea.
