From the Sponsor Studio with ArtCenter and Alienware, AVAWARE is a digital and physical product designed to streamline the process of live-streaming with an avatar. This product can create your avatar using AI, stream straight from AVAWARE onto live-streaming sites like Twitch or YouTube, and manage short-form content for multiple social media apps.
With faceless live-streaming personalities on the rise, my team and I wanted to create a product that makes streaming easier and more beginner-friendly. We want to give new and veteran streamers advanced technology that can change the streaming space.
Intro - Faceless live-streaming :
Beyond streaming football games and movies, many content creators have become live-streamers with millions of people watching them. Even beyond live-streaming, there has been a wave of live-streamers who don't even show their face and use an avatar to interact with their fans. This has been such a hit that in November of 2024, the second most popular streamer on Twitch was Ironmouse, a faceless streamer or more accurately, a Vtuber. Just as there are many pros to being a faceless streamer like having privacy and being expressive in how you show yourself, there are also cons like difficulties creating an avatar for yourself and streaming outside your house. With AVAWARE, all of this can be possible and makes faceless streaming easier to get into especially for newcomers who are nervous about showing their face on the internet.
AVAWARE :
AVAWARE consists of a desktop and mobile app as well a physical headset, bracelets, clips, and a charging dock. Wear the headset, bracelets, and clips to become your avatar on stream. Use the AVAWARE apps to create your avatar, stream on any streaming site, manage all the content you create, and share them effortlessly.
Creating an avatar :
Within the desktop app, you can either search in the community tab for avatars or create your own using AI. First enter your prompt of what avatar you want. After the initial render, you can customize your avatar with prompts that are specific to the body parts of your avatar. When you finish creating your avatar, you can use that avatar in your streams or share it to the community.
Virtual Space :
Same way you can create your avatar, you can create your environment using AI or searching through the community tab.
Streaming Live :
AVAWARE has their own streaming software so that people do not need to use third party apps like OBS to stream. You can change your avatar or virtual space, read your chat, create different scenes, and anything that other streaming apps can do.
On the Go :
You can take your stream outside when streaming on your phone. Use the AVAWARE mobile app to connect your phone to your desktop to stream anywhere while using your avatar. Beyond streaming, you can takes photos or videos of yourself with your avatar anywhere and share them to any social media app with just a couple taps on the phone.
Community :
With the community tab, this is where you can see other users who use AVAWARE. You can look at popular streams of AVAWARE streamers or other faceless streamers as well as see popular avatars and virtual spaces to possibly use.
Headware :
The headware is how AVAWARE scans your face to show expressions on your avatar. It comes with built in audio system that vibrates your bone structure for audio as well as a screen to see information like how many viewers are in your stream or who donated to your stream.
Limbware :
The limbware is what your wear around your wrists to track the movement of your arms to your avatar. It has a bio sensor to track your heart beat for more added interactability to yourself and your avatar. There is also a custom button that can be programmed to anything on the AVAWARE app. The button can be used for anything like to mute your mic or switch scenes.
Limbclips :
The limbclips are used mainly for you legs to track the movement of your legs.
Charging Dock :
The charging dock is created to easily charge all the physical items with ease. The headware, limbware, and limclips do not all have to be of used all together, so while using the headware and limbware, you can charge the limbclips and use them later. You can also use the limbclips as limbware when the limbware runs out of battery.
There is a lot of information that is uncovered about AVAWARE, but this product is used for anything streaming related. You can ditch all the other apps you used and only use AVAWARE for a streaming ecosystem.
This sponsored project was one my biggest projects I had worked on and I was able to used everything I learned in ArtCenter and put it into AVAWARE. The one thing I learned most from this project was managing feedback from the clients, Alienware, and also my professors who were overseeing the project.
Throughout the weeks of working on AVAWARE, I had many meetings with both my professors and the clients on AVAWARE. There were times when some of the advice I got from the client were not in line with the advice from my professors. Of course you should always take the feedback from the client over everything else, but often or not, the client's feedback does not show the full picture. I learned that it became my job to truly understand the feedback of my clients learn the reasoning behind their feedback.
Overall, it was very fun to create this project with something I thoroughly enjoy such as live-streaming. I think that not many people outside the gaming world know of live-streaming and the purpose of it, but in the near future, streaming will become even greator than the superbowl.
